may be your piston rings are worn out. if it is a 91 and has been ridden a
lot then that is my first guess. is is oil injected or do you mix it?
perhaps you mistakenly put too much oil in the gass or the oil puming system
is messing up. but since you say there is a lot of smoking and noticeable
power loss, I'd say you are due for a new piston and rings. putting them in
is realy not as hard as you'd think, however if you have little experience
I'd sugest letting the nearest Tomos dealer do it.

Help me here.I never saw a 2 stroke engine with oil rings, or much less,
wear out and cause smoking and loss of power,BUT excessive oil in fuel
mix, howerver, could cause this .

Depending on the type of moped motor that you have there can be different
factors to determine why your 2 cycle motor smokes excessively despite having
the correct fuel mixture. If you have a motor that has transmission fluid in
it or gear oil in it the seal on the crankshaft on the transmission side can
be faulty and you can suck some of the fluid into the combustion chamber
causing lots of smoke. Also the center case gasket or porous casting can do
this but it is extremely rare. A good mechanic can pressure test your motor
to diagnose and pinpoint the source of leakage causing the excessive smoke

Our custom fabricated expansion chamber / Biturbo that was installed on on a
Jawa 210 last week picked up about 5 + mph. The moped was going 30 mph and
now reaches 35 to 38 mph. Results vary. If you Jawa is already going 35 mph
as you say I do not think you will acheieve 10 mph gain to get 45 but will
get some gain as the old style Jawa is not a real fast moped to begin with.
The performance pipe looks and sounds cool. Feel free to call us if you need

Well, actually I own 2 of these great mopeds: 1 is an original 81' model
that i completly restored (european model that is!) and the other one is
something special: it is completly tuned and does about 100 km/u (don't know
how many miles that is..) It has a polini watercooled 70cc cylinder with a
Malossi carb (21mm) bigger air intake, Leovinci exhaust all parts that that
just make more weight are removed , tuned vario block, full wheel covers,
race slick tires , you name it...

I think i know a bitt of these little devil machines, so if you have
questions, ask away...

Sounds impressive you've done there. Any pics you could e-mail over?I'd like
to see especially the racy one with all the Italian cling-ons.
I wouldn't have thought that the Camino (the European model name for the
PA-50) would withstand any type of performance upgrade; it's not that
sturdy.
I get a few of French and German tuneup mags and the most popular ones for
these kind of jobs are the Kreidlers and the Peugeot 103's.
We buy stuff from Polini but have the same problem as with any other
aluminum cylinder; it overheats. Maybe with water-cooling that is not that
bad...

Hello,
I just took off the cover to the gearbox of my 94' Tomos Colibri. I am
trying to replace the clutch pads. When i took clutch pad #1 (outside pad)
off, and tryed to take off clutch pad #2 (inner pad) i was unable to figure
out how to get it out. It has gears in front of it so i can't take it out and
i cant figure how to get the gears off. How do I go about this? and also the
pads i purchased are a little bit different. If your looking at the pad, in
the center off my old ones had little tiny grooves to fit on the gear. But
the new ones are just a little square that slide over the peice. What should
i do?

Well, i must agree that the camino is not that sturdy, butt if you weld some
T-profiles (steel) on the "backbridge" you know the thing that holds the
backwheel, the problem can be solved. That's what i have done with mine.
Also, make sure all rust is removed and taken care off before starting to
tune a camino, it is very important that is in a very good condition.

The pic's could be a problem, cause: A) I don't have'em.. (this will be
solved in the near future)
B) I don't
have a scanner at the moment...

But i'll do my best...

I've had a Camino myself, with a 70cc kit. I've never had problems with it,
but I have been warned a lot to keep an eye on the pulleys: if the
variomatic unit doesn't work properly, you risk breaking your crankshaft..
But hey, as long as it runs, it's a great ride.. I've used it for my paper
round, as a dirt bike and for transportation, I really loved it.

I recently bought a used '99 Tomos Targa LX that come
equipped with a biturbo exhaust. The guy who sold it
to me had a 94 same model with a biturbo and he took
the packing and end cap off of it. He also purchased a
resonator tip to go on the end of it. It was straight
through. He gave me the tip and i want to put it on my
moped. But a couple of moped stores informed me that
this would burn up the engine with no backpressure.
The other guy had it like that for a couple of months
before he crashed and exparienced no prblems. I like
the sound but dont want to strain the engine. should I
take the chance?

nothing you can do. It is "governed" by several things, of which the muffler
