Yamaha PAS Star Cross

Background of the product development

Since its dramatic debut in 1994, the Yamaha PAS series has continued to win popularity as a convenient means of personal transportation for daily life.
As its use spreads beyond personal commuting with the recognition of its potential in the leisure and wellness fields, Yamaha has received many requests from the users for a sportier model.
The new PAS Star Cross debuts as a model that answers this market demand.
At the same time it is a model that embodies the expansion of electro-hybrid bicycles with the new concept of the "Fun-minded PAS" with a range of features devoted to fun and the sporty use.

Main product features

(I%(BTrendy cross frame
This model adopts the cross frame that has become the trend in casual street bicycles, especially among the younger generation. The body line features simple, sporty sophistication and puts the rider in a more sports-like pedaling position.

(I%(BFront suspension
A lightweight, simple, high-performance spring loaded front suspension is adopted. Besides softening the shock of bumps in the road, this suspension also absorbs the unpleasant vibration that is transmitted through the handlebars while riding for an even more comfortable ride.

(I%(BHigh quality parts
The sporty appeal of this model is enhanced by the adoption of aluminum parts in places like the saddle post and pedals. Other quality touches include a chrome plated front fork.

(I%(BGenerous 28 km cruising range (on Yamaha Pattern)
The assist cruising range on one battery charge is a generous 28 km over the Yamaha Pattern and 38 km on flat roads. This means a greatly expanded mobility range with plenty of distance for most leisure cycling.

(I%(BNew battery layout
A new battery layout has been designed to match the sporty lines of this model. Mounting this "U" shaped battery design with right-left symmetry on the saddle stay offers outstanding riding stability and handling ease.

(I%(BConvenient battery charge lamp
The battery charge lamp fitted at the main switch is a three-lamp unit that informs the rider of remaining charge on five-level increments. This extra feature makes it easier to plan rechargings and avoid running out of power unexpectedly.

(I%(BFull recharge in approx. 3.5 hours
The new quick-recharge battery takes only about 3.5 hours for a full charging. The recharger retains the same easy operation as the existing model with a refresher function that erases the nickel-cadmium battery's memory effect.

(I%(BKeyless main switch
An easy to operate keyless main switch has been adopted. As an energy-saving device, the switch is designed to turn off the power assist unit automatically when the bicycle remains standing for more than five minutes.

(I%(BGrip type 3-speed gear box
To make riding even easier, this model comes with a fully enclosed 3-speed gear mechanism as standard equipment. The shift mechanism is a grip type, which means a simple turn of the grip without taking your hand off the handlebars is all it takes to change gears. Also, the rear wheel is fitted with a roller type brake knows for its excellent controllability.
