Hi Dom,
you al ready succeeded in opening the cylinder, didn't you?
remove some more things , exhaust / carburator and the cylinder it
selve
and you can see if they were right at the store :).
posible a ring broke and damaged the piston? this could happen with
massive coal deposit. check it out your selve than you're sure.

I tried to clean the carbonizing myself this morning, but it still
didn't want to start. I brought it into a repair shop and they said the
piston was damaged and that's why I'm getting no compression.

Can that really happen just because of a rich fuel mixture or am I
being
BS'd?
