hi don, why did he replace the reed valve....and isn't that happening again ? If your plug still sparks with lights on, passed top-test.. If you still see smoke coming outoff the exhaust, and it gives pressure / force to your hand when in the exhaustgas flow- 1 or 2" away from the pipe end, exhaust passed test. cilinder ./ piston fit alright? piston rings could be worn out..or worser the crankcasebearings.or.seals. or on the bright side, a leaking head-gasket (does the cilinder sweat oily smudge? ) 0.35 - 0.45 mm point gap, but if it runs it stays the same, so no reasing for dieing out. On the otherhand the coil could overhead if bad.. is the magneto still in a fixed position?, if loose it gives a irrational motor behaviour :). does it die out of fuel shortage , or no / bad spark? you can smell the difference , at least at the exhaust. it comes to me as fuel shortage, when running full trottle it drives a to lean mix and overheats. but starts right out when cooler... gives (cold) bad starting behaviour, weak performance it all fits.. and there is the reed valve in the picture again, you checked gas supply upto there.. peter ----- Oorspronkelijk bericht ----- Van: Aan: Verzonden: maandag 29 mei 2000 21:04 Onderwerp: Tomos Troubles > Hello All, > I inhierted a '93 Tomos A35 from a friend (mechanic) who could never get it > running correctly.
