Dear Ryan : In regard to you Tomos Mopeds transmission problem.............. The clutch shoes on your 1981 Tomos moped are replaceable and you do not need a puller to remove them. There are 3 shoes per clutch, a total of 6 shoes. To remove the nut holding the clutch hub it is best to use an air impact wrench and the nut will come right off. Clean the entire transmission and cases. Flush out the transmission case including the motor cavity with solvent. Replace all 6 clutch shoes. On the gear shaft that you said is wobbling that is normal because it is supported by the bearings in the transmission case. You can actually take the whole gear shaft out by hand. There is a small spring located behind the gears that looks like a C made of wire. This should also be replaced along with the transmission gasket. Make sure that all of the bearings rotate freely and without play. All of the teeth on the gears gears uniform. The clutch drum is smooth. There are a lot of things to look for and experience helps when working on a 2 speed automatic transmission. Call us if you need any help and we stock every single part of the Tomos transmission.
