I got the bike in about 19 days from ordering, I sort of expected it to take a while since other reviews mentioned that. Put it together, I must say the directions are very poorly translated from I`m gathering Chinese, but the pictures make up for that. Took it for a ride, and, I think I`m in LOVE!!!! From the other online reviews I read I didn`t expect it to do well on hills. Well, I live in a very hilly place, the San Francisco Bay area. The first day I took it on the steepest hills in Berkeley and it did decently with the assistance of the pedals. I was cruising up the lesser inclines which would just wipe me out on a regular bike. The speedometer is in Kilometers, which I find amusing. Since this bike is legally classified as an electric bicycle, you can take it on the Public Transit system here, BART. The only real drawback is that this bike is very heavy compared to a regular bike. It is not easy to pick it up without 2 people, with or without the battery pack. Although, it is very useful that the battery pack comes off very easily. This particular bike has power brakes on both wheels, more than double the power of other bikes out there (600 watts compared to 180 or 300), long range, and regenerative braking. Also, the wheels are 22 inches, which makes it easier to handle on the road than a scooter which usually has 16 inch wheels. I don`t know of any other electric bikes out there that have all of thes great features. I`m going to use this bike quite a bit!!! I`m really wondering why electric bikes haven`t caught on here, yet. I purchased a Cozybike 09 from Omegastores this summer. I ordered the bike memorial day weekend. I was told it takes about 7 days to ship the bike. The bike came a month later, with half the summer gone. The bike came damaged. I sent it back and Omegastores replaced the bike. I received the bike two or three weeks. It wasn`t packed very securely in the first place and some screws to connedt the fender to the bicycle were missing. I ride the bike 12.5 miles several times a week to work. At work I take the battery out and recharge it. The trip takes 50 - 60 minutes, so I am not sure the the bike is getting to 20 mph. There are few hills, except for one with about a 45 degree grade on the way home. The bike appears to die at the top of the hill even with the peddle assist. After that the bike seems to recover nicely. The two front light bulbs have burnt out and Gabe from Omega stores says they are not covered in the warranty. He said they are on back order. These bulbs are pretty hard to come by I have not been able to find them anywhere. So after owning the bike for about a month and a half I am somewhat pleased with the performance of the bike, but not with the response of the company selling them. To use this bike for commuting I need headlights that work, they burnt out in a month and a half. There are other electric bike web sites that you can purchase similar model bikes, however they are more expensive. If you have a lot of steep hills then I wouldn`t recommend this bike. I would like to share my not so nice experience about this company called Omegastores.com. Expect a 30 days delivery from the time you ordered your bike. Free shipping is just a catch. The owners will tell you this is our first time we encounter the problem. I don`t think so. Be very careful. Other electric bicycle company takes 5 to 7 days and you`ll have the bike in the said dates. Very poor website, less information about the bike, and they don`t return back your email or call in time. Email took 5 days and returning my call, 3days.Add comment View comments |
