Date: 9/10/2006 9:06:50 PM I have a chance to buy 2 1980 Pugh bikes with less than 500 miles each. Owner tells me they could maybe use new tires. My brother in law saw them and says they are in excellent condition for their age. Owner is asking $400 for the pair. Do you have any idea what tires run for the bikes? Thanks for any comments. Date: 9/18/2006 12:41:01 AM Yes; New tires 2.25'' x17'' usually run between $15 to $25 a piece. I would recommend the Cheng Shin brand tires made in Taiwan over the cheaper Indian made types. There may be nothing wrong with some of the Indian made ones but Chen Shin is a reputable economy brand. If you can find Michelin tires for under $30 they are better still. Duro tires have a bad reputation among some so I wouldn't use those. There are higher priced performance ones up to $50 but for a bike that tops out at 35mph it's a waste. You can get tires through E-bay or mail order but I would try a motorcycle shop first. Ask for a set for an early Honda 90 to help the counter clerk find a listing. | |||||
