Subject:	California Laws?

I just bought a 1978 honda pa-50 ii. and i have no idea what any of the riding laws are... i have heard mixed comments about it. one guy told me i only needed to carry the proof of purchase, and wear a helmet. i asked a cop who came into my work, and he said i might need an m2 license, along with insurance and registration. can anyone help me clear this up? e-mail if you can.
