Dear Jared; Congratulations on your new Avanti Auto Power from Mini Trails. The muffler coupling is just a piece of rubber where the two pipes join together. Most of the mopeds made over the past 30 years that use the longer 2 piece pipe system you will see some of the residue from the exhaust coming from this joint. This is a normal process and by product of the 2 cycle engine. It is actually helpful that the residue does not build up in exhaust system. I will send you an extra exhaust coupling at no charge.
