Variator.My Honda 50 Elite has one.All it is ,is a Comet drive unit.( a
torque converter)As the engine speed increases,the driver pulley dia.
becomes larger and the driven pulley dia. becomes smaller. There is a
wide " V " belt between the two.

bigger engine kit, bigger carb. Pretty much anything you can do to speed up a
moped is going to cost you money. I know on scooters there is a
variator(whatever that it) and a mechanic in one of my local shops said that
they can change some stuff in there to make them a lot faster. I do not know
what a variator is and I also don't know if mopeds have them. You may want to
ask someone and see if there is.
