hi ,
good tip, never use timing marks on the magneto !
after each removal (or worse, replacement) they are off time.
instead use a micro meter (or caliper gage /slide rule) to determine the
place of the piston (1-2mm [depending on type] before top 'turning the right
side' !!).
mark the position with fine stripe of white paint and check with a
stroboscope while running. this gives also an indication of the timing
constant or timing advanve if aplicable.

on my Franco-Morini MO2 engine were WORTHLESS !!I re-scribed the correct
marks after laborious painstaking measurements and reset the
timing.GAINED POWER!So all should check their timing marks,`cause mine
were WAY OFF(20 degrees slow).BYE!
