Sean, an engine needs three things to run and to run well. A good spark at
the right time; the proper air/fuel mix; and good compression. So, a new
spark plug is not a bad idea as they are inexpensive. Compression should not
have changed over the winter.
Then this leads me to suspect the air/fuel mix getting to the engine.
Check to make sure a good flow of fuel is available from the tank.
If you have a fuel filter, make sure it is not plugged
clean the carb.
Clean the air filter
check the exhaust for carbon buildup.
