I checked into a titling service for motorcycles in the US once. What I had
to do was sell the bike to a dealer in a state that does not require a title
and they in turn would sell it back to me with a title from their state. All
this on paper only. This only worked on bikes that were before 1984 (I
think). Cost at that time, a couple of years ago, was 80.00 plus taxes on the
sale. I didn't do it. In the US different states have different DMV laws.
They use a loophole in the law.
I did have some grief on a Honda VT500 shipped from Germany once. Seems
there was not enough numbers on the frame. Fourteen verses 17, if my memory
is correct. In this case I had a title and just wanted to transfer it.
