Color of plug porcelain indicates if too hot or too cold.What color is it when cleaned of "soot."Needs to be tan.Hotter plug may help. 99% of the time."sooting" is unburned fuel and that is a fuel mixture that is too rich.Fuel level too high in carb and/or jetting too large.Make sure air filter and exhaust is unrestricted(clean) and choke(strangler) is completely open.Altering an engine,any engine,to gain more HP output than stock can/ will produce anything from simple "soot" to complete destruction as well.
