Depends on how you look at it. The first motor assisted bicycles where
made befor 1900. The Weber from which the solex was derived was there in
1878 I believe.
The mobylette was based on a similar device with a slightly higher cc
from the 1930s.
There are a lot of simple add on engines from the early days.
The first "real" moped tho' would be the solex in 1947.
