We have installed on brand new USA spec. Tomos mopeds full 70cc kits, 15mm carburetor, intake manifold, HP head and exhaust and have test rode them after being fully broken in and hit an average of 50 to 55 mph no problem at all. The acceleration is outstanding. We can achieve rev's of 8000 to 9500+ rpm. The machine and is just winding all the way out with the stock ignition systems. We have noticed that Tomos has substituted many different ignition systems on there mopeds. There have been several different Irska sealed electronic ignition systems on current mopeds. We have achieved an average of 40 mph+ with just a biturbo exhaust system and jet upgrade on a stock moped and a 155 LB rider. We have good results with no limitation of RPM's from the cdi units. There is no way to cut or modify the CDI module on the USA spec. Tomos mopeds. We did hoverer remove a CDI limiter on a Tomos TSR 50 scooter (made in Korea) which made a substantial gain in performance. An electronic rev limiter on mopeds could enhance stock performance because the moped could put out full power and acceleration up to its programmed rpm unlike the restrictive exhaust which limits overall performance and the restrictive exhaust also contributes to a sluggish first to second gear shift on the Tomos mopeds. Performance enthusiasts would have to change the ignition system to exceed the preprogrammed RPM limit but a stock moped would perform better. We would be interested if members can post your modifications, speed and country on any 1994 and up Tomos moped. Realistic average speeds on a flat surface would be appreciated.
